Weeknights at 7pm, I share some of my fondest memories from the 1970s.
Afro’s, platform shoes, wide bottom pants, low cut silk shirts and a hairy chest with gold chains, and the cars! I owned a red 1976 Bricklin. If you can’t quite place the vehicle, it looked a lot like the DeLorean that became famous in the Back to the Future movies. A Bricklin was made out of unbreakable plastic and had what must have been 300 pound doors. No worries. The car salesman assured me there would be no problems because of a button that when pressed would open them for me via hydraulics. Note to self. Make sure buttons like these work. Mine didn’t and I was back to the dealership so they could let me out of my own car. So much for the 70s. Ha!
Truly, it was a great time and the music takes us back in a snap. That’s what My 70′s Show celebrates. The 70′s gave us some of the best pop music ever recorded. Artists like Elton John, The Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac. It’s all here on My 70′s Show! Every year from 1970 to 1979. We’ll also catch up with some of the artists that made the decade great and share stories about what we liked most about the 70s.
Then at 8pm…
Lovin’ Life, Livin’ the 80′s” is a show that celebrates music of the great decade of the 1980s. It’s all here…the Pop, the Rock, and the Soul from the beginning in 1980 all the way through 1989. I’m so passionate about this decade that I’ve put together a show that will bring you to a place in time that I know will put a smile on your face.
When I think of the 80′s, I think of Ronald Reagan, the end of the cold war, Back to the Future, the beginning of my family and some fantastic days in radio working at WLS in Chicago, WAVA in Washington and WRQC in Cleveland. Nothing is ever perfect but in my mind, the 80′s was just about as perfect as it gets. Every song takes me back to that place and time. The artists of the 80′s are iconic and distinctive and they’re all played here. Billy Joel, Huey Lewis, Queen, Eagles, Hall and Oates, John Mellencamp, Police, Journey, Michael Jackson, Bryan Adams, Heart, and so many more.
Here’s my 80′s pledge and mission statement for “Lovin’ Life, Livin’ the 80′s”. I promise to play the songs that you want to hear and present them in a fun way that will entertain you. I hope you enjoy this show as much as I do bringing it to you. As with all my shows, I always welcome and appreciate your feedback.
