Teachers are the big winners coming out of Governor Bill Lee’s State of the State address. During Monday night’s speech at the Tennessee State Capitol, Governor Lee proposed a nearly 650-million-dollar boost to help increase salaries for teachers, increase literacy rates, provide training for educators and an unprecedented new endowment to meet the mental health needs of Tennessee’s public school students. Lee’s budget request includes more than 117-million to give teachers statewide an average raise of four-percent. Governor Lee will also deliver a State of West Tennessee address on Thursday, February 13th at Lane College.
